Litchfield Jazz Festival

Sunday, July 28th, 2019

Set in the picturesque, rolling Litchfield Hills, the Litchfield Jazz Festival was established nearly a quarter century ago. That first line-up in 1996 would be the envy of any major festival today—Diana Krall, Christian McBride, Terence Blanchard, Russell Malone, Peter Bernstein, Ahmad Jamal, Renee Rosnes, JJ Johnson ... If you remember this or any of the wonderful festivals that followed, you won’t want to miss Litchfield Jazz Fest 2019.

THINGS ARE NEW THIS YEAR! - As you may know, the Litchfield Jazz Festival is the public face of the non-profit Litchfield Performing Arts, while Litchfield Jazz Camp is its heart. To connect the Festival more closely to the Camp it serves, to make it a community event, and to keep it sustainable, we’ve decided to change the Festival paradigm.

All activities will now be held in Washington, CT and at the Gunnery, home of Litchfield Jazz Camp. In addition to THREE days of great jazz and TWO great fundraiser parties—an Opening Night Gala AND a Sunday Jazz Brunch—we will hold Festival concerts indoors in an intimate, air-conditioned hall, the Gunnery’s Emerson Performing Arts Center. And there will be a bonus for all visitors: a FREE OuterFest!

On Saturday 7/27 only, from 11am - 5pm, the OuterFest will be held on the grounds of the First Congregational Church across the street from the concert hall. As always, there will be great food, art and crafts exhibits, student performances now in a gorgeous historic church, artist talks, and family friendly activities.

The Opening Night Gala, Friday, July 26, will be hosted at Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens in Washington Depot. Best Friend, Friend, and Friday Patron ticket holders will enjoy music by top Litchfield Jazz Camp Combos, hors d'oeuvres, and fine French wines. Gala tickets include the Fest opening concert which follows, where top Camp players will open for the Litchfield Jazz Orchestra and Montreaux award-winning vocalist Alexis Cole.

On the last day of the Festival, July 28, you won’t want to miss our popular Sunday Jazz Brunch. Held at the beautiful Bourne Hall Courtyard at the Gunnery, Best Friend, Sunday Patron, and Sunday Jazz Brunch ticket holders will enjoy a rousing good time with delicious buffet and beverages and music by the Don Braden Sextet with well-known jazz and blues vocalist Antoinette Montague.

The all-star 2019 Litchfield Jazz Fest @ the Gunnery lineup features Mike Stern, Wycliffe Gordon, Randy Brecker and other top acts (see below) in an intimate concert setting. With great music throughout, the free OuterFest, PLUS two great parties to help support music education at Litchfield Jazz Camp, this year's Litchfield Jazz Festival is shaping up to be an event to remember. Tickets are limited for this year, so please order yours early! We’ll see you there!!
