Hope and Love Option (HALO) President Nanette Dieterle massages Excaliber.
In early 2013, Hope and Love Option, had a mission, a Board of Directors and motivated volunteers and donors who believed in providing care for foals, horses and other farm animals in need. What they didn’t have was a 501(c)(3) status.
Hope and Love Option President Nanette Dieterle reached out to the Foundation about a non-profit sponsorship. Just a few days later, Hope and Love Option was accepting the donations needed to continue to treat the horses and other farm animals in their care. Months later, they received their much anticipated charitable status with the IRS.
Your Community Foundation understands that effective and innovative non-profits often arise at the community level with important goals and immediate work to do, but that securing a charitable status from the IRS even on a fast track can take up to a year.
We support these growing non-profits through our Nonprofit Sponsorship program, assisting volunteers to raise tax-exempt money, so volunteers can continue working within their communities, while continuing the sometimes formidable administrative work involved in forming a new corporation.
